This past November I turned 50 years old and I'll be honest, I started feeling it around 45. In my last post, I was very honest about all my frustrations with doctors and not being heard about my symptoms. Through a lot of research, the same things kept coming up - Eat more Protein and Fiber! And don't lose your muscle. So this is what I have done to try to combat aging on top of the hormones I am taking as well. Each of the supplements I use, I have links to and where to find them to purchase.

These are the supplements that have worked for me. I try to sneak fiber & protein in as much as I can. And this is how I do it.

I start every morning out with my coffee. Yes, I love my flavored creamers. There are just some things I won't give up. But I also throw something healthy in there too. I put 2 scoops of my Collagen Peptides into my coffee every morning. I don't taste a thing. There is 0 sugar. 18 g of Protein and 20 g of Collagen Peptides. They do come in some flavors as well.

My Lunchtime Smoothie - Creatine & Trilogy

I make a smoothie for lunch each day. As a teacher, I don't have much time to eat lunch. So I found a smoothie works fantastic. And I can sneak a bunch of healthy stuff that I don't taste in there too. My smoothie will range from a green smoothie to fruit depending on how I feel. I will post a few of them in the future.

Creatine already doesn't have any flavor. If you aren't taking Creatine right now, I would start. I always thought this stuff was for people who wanted to bulk up. I was sooo wrong. This stuff is great to maintain your muscle mass as well as cognitve functions. I also love the Thorne brand. It scored really high on my Supp Co app at a 9.75/10.

I also will sneak the Badia Whole Trilogy into my smoothie. This is not only sneaking in fiber, but also Omega 3. The trilogy is Flax, Chia and Hemp seed. I do have a bit of a texture issue, so I also will grind this up in my nutri bullet before I even put it in my smoothie so it is like a fine dust. Therefore, I don't even feel the texture or taste anything.

Now for my daily vitamins. I know it seems like a lot but I each one does have a purpose. So let's quickly break it down. In my last post, The book, The New Menopause, it talks extensively about the importance of vitamin D3 & K2, Turmeric, Magnesium and Fish Oil. These supplements also all scored very high on my SuppCo app. 8.31/10 or higher.

Vitamin D &K2 is very important for us to have. It helps regulate calcium and keep your bones strong along with a strong heart. Most of us are deficient. Especially with me living in Wisconsin.
Turmeric is an excellent anti-inflammatory & antioxidant. Its great for your joints, blood sugar, brain health, the list goes on. I even give this to my dog.
Biotin has a reputation for its beauty components with hair, skin & nails. However it also has metabolic components as well. It helps convert food into energy.

B-Complex Plus is also a metabolism and energy supplement that also helps with brain function. The plus includes Vitamin C & zinc.
Magnesium is very important. But its important to know which one to take. Neuro-Mag - L-Threonate is the one to help with brain function & memory.

The Omega-3 help lower triglycerides and help our heart, blood sugar, brain, inflammation... The list goes on. I don't eat a lot of fresh fish, so I need to supplement this.
