This October has been a busy month especially in the UGC side of things. Lot's of filming and editing and packages at the door. It's been fun but busy. I've been doing a lot more listening, than actually reading. That, and Molly's walks are getting shorter. At 15 years old, she still loves her walks, but they are shorter and slower and a lot more pokier!! We spent a a few trips to the vet due to some allergies and then she didn't want to eat for a few too many days. But I think we got that behind us, and she is on the mend. She is looking a little homeless where the vet had to shave her hot spot. but her spunky attitude is back. And that is all that matters.

So what have I been reading?? I have spent the entire month listening to an awesome read that I would highly recommend....

The Calamity Club

By Katherin Stockett

Historical Fiction. 656 pages

I was unaware of how much historical truth was in this book until the end. But that just made it that much better.

Several friends really shied away from reading the book because of the length. But this book was awesome and well worth every page. The characters pulled at you in every way. Except Garnett. She just pulled you to want to pull her in front of a moving train. I fell in love with Little Meg. And to think of the abuse and her resilience as she faced the cruelty of Garnett and never knowing it had nothing to do with her, but Garnett wanting revenge for her husband's indiscretions. It did make me pity Garnett for a second. That she was a scorned woman. However, I had no pity for her in the end.

I just ached for Charlie and the torture she had to endure not only physically but mentally awful. However, I absolutely fell in love with Birdie and how self-less she was. She never stopped showing her sister love. Even when her sister wasn't very easy to love. And how no matter how different the women were, they supported each other in the own ways.

This book was beautifully written and I kept thinking throughout the book, I could see this as a movie. But it would be a very long movie. They wouldn't be able to cut very much without short changing the book immensely. This is a must read!!!
